Pre-Construction Webinar Recap and Important Links


The City of London's Megan Fontaine kicked off the Pre-Construction Webinar on Apr. 23

The City of London held a Pre-Construction Webinar on Thursday April 23 to present information on the upcoming Dundas Construction Phase 1. This meeting would have typically been in person featuring guest speaks, presentations, and the distribution of informational materials. Of course, the restrictions in place due to COVID-19 forced the meeting to take place online. However, that didn’t stop several guest speakers and panellists, along with 50 businesses, property owners, and community members from attending.

Speakers during the Pre-Construction Webinar included:

  • Ed Holder - Mayor, City of London

  • Jesse Helmer - Deputy Mayor and Ward 4 Councillor, City of London

  • Jim Yanchula - Downtown Projects and Business Relations Manager, City of London

  • Jonny Ngai - Construction Project Manager, City of London

  • Curtis Brekelmans - Lead Contractor, Bre-Ex Construction

  • Jeff Scarrow - Dillon Consulting

  • Sgt. Michael Pottruff - London Police Foot Patrol

  • Brian Nourse - Environmental Service Engineer, City of London

  • Melanie Stone - Accessibility Specialist, City of London

  • Stephen Miller - Municipal Law Enforcement, Parking Services Manager, City of London

  • Megan Fontaine - Public Engagement Manager, Transportation and Construction, City of London

  • Mitch Taylor - Founder, Claim Your Leisure Media Inc.

  • Jen Pastorius - Manager, Old East Village BIA

As the list of speakers indicates, there was a wide variety of subjects covered. Some of the key topics included:

  • Key dates and logistics for the project’s start date (May 4, 2020)

  • Lessons learned from previous core construction projects and how those learnings will be implemented in OEV

  • Important contacts for businesses and the community affected by construction

  • Construction site safety, area security, and cleanliness

  • London Police presence and patrols

  • Pedestrian and traffic signage

  • Accessibility concerns and measures to be taken in the construction zone

  • Parking availability and a new free parking promotion through Honk Mobile

  • Communications strategies and promotional materials

Again, Dundas Construction Phase 1 starts May 4, 2020 in OEV and the construction zone will encompass Dundas Street from English to Ontario Streets.
