Old East Village Business Improvement Area - Content Creation Support Position
This role will provide support for existing and emerging social media opportunities often related to but not exclusively regarding the Dundas Street Infrastructure Renewal. The Content Creation Support (CCS) position will work directly with Construction Communication and Administration Specialist as well as the BIA General Manager and other BIA staff depending on the task. All work related to Dundas Street Construction will be done in collaboration with the City of London Communication team. In order to complete this work successfully, the CCS staff will spend a significant amount of their time on Dundas Street meeting with businesses in order to fulfil their CCS work plan. Therefore, this role requires someone personable, disciplined and one who can complete tasks on time and without direct supervision.
This is a Canada Summer Job funded position which will include 30hrs per week; $15 per hour for 8 weeks between July and September 2020. To be eligible, you must be between 15-30 years of age.
This position will work through the BIA Manager to:
Create and manage DIGOEV Instagram account:
Work collaboratively with our communications specialist to develop a social media strategy for Instagram
Create content to be used for Instagram, including blog posts, interviews, etc.
Work with local businesses to promote them on Instagram and serve as a resource to businesses who want their stories/ posts shared
Create an editorial calendar for Instagram posts
Create a detailed schedule of which days we will be posting what- to be used for future resources
Respond back to replies, direct messages, and tags on Instagram
Repost stories to our Instagram story that we are tagged in
Create a visually appealing aesthetic for Instagram alongside the communications specialist
Social Media Reports:
Inform the team of Instagram engagement in a clear and concise manner
Perform a social media scan on Facebook and Instagram each day
Communications:
Communicate with the business list to schedule interviews/ collect content
Report back regularly and at the request of the BIA Manager to the OEV BIA team on Instagram activity
Connecting with local influencers and neighbourhood personalities
Digital Media:
Compile photographs of local businesses, streetscape, and community members/events to be archived for social media and email marketing
Education and Experience:
Currently pursuing or have graduated from a diploma/ degree program in an applicable field (e.g., marketing, public relations, communications)
Proven experience with content creation, specifically on Instagram
Must have access to their own personal DSLR camera, or high-quality phone camera
Excellent communication and written skills
Ability to create a variety of content and manage an Instagram account
Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required
Must be creative and imaginative and have excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team
Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and positive attitude
Demonstrates excellent attention to detail
Ability to multi-task, be self-motivated, determine priorities, and work within deadlines
Accountability:
This position reports through the BIA Manager to the Old East Village Board of Directors.
