Yemi describes the reason for her success as staying humble and treating people with respect. She explains that when you're honest and you respect people, people will come back. As she says, “You have to treat people as you’d like to be treated. Your attitude and your body language reflect you. I make sure people feel welcome and feel like part of the family.” Yemi says it’s important to be hardworking and accommodate people, even when they come in at the last minute. Although kindness is key, she explains how it’s equally important to be diplomatic, sometimes saying “yes is yes and no is no,” is necessary.
Yemi accentuates how it’s important to stay humble. She explains the necessity to be content with what you have and work within your means. “You can’t have five dollars and then buy something for eight. You can’t be comparing yourself to others and thinking what if I had this kind of store. You have to be content with what you have.” As well, she said that religion has been important to her to keep her grounded and faithful.
What truly sets Yemi and her business apart is her willingness to go above and beyond for her clients, even meeting seniors to cut and shampoo their hair. She explains that “being friendly and gentle goes a long way.” Along with her talent for hairstyling, Yemi displays kindness and compassion.
