Make sure to come out to the third Only in OEV Fridays event this Friday, August 12th in the lot beside Vietnam Restaurant at Dundas Street and Burbrook Place! The event will celebrate local businesses and organizations, the OEV Libation District, artists, and musicians found Only in OEV. Join us for live mural painting, music, a beer garden, local vendors, and more!
This Only in OEV event will spotlight the locally made libations in OEV, including a beer garden with London Brewing Co-op and Powerhouse Brewing Co. with their beers on tap. Make sure to also check out the self-guided Libation District Tour!
There will also be live music and DJs to enjoy at the event! The New Cats will come to the stage at 4:30 pm with some feel-good funk music, singer-songwriter Noelle Frances at 5:30 pm, DJ Harina of Oa(sis) at 6:45 pm.
A unique aspect of the event is that many activities focus on learning and the environment, such as the Green Thumbs booth by the London Children’s Museum, LOLA Bees Observation hive & Pollinator pals. The London Environmental Network and The Thing Library by Reimagine Co. will also be in attendance.
The event will have a wide range of vendors, ranging from local businesses and artisans to community partners. The vendors and local artisans include Pastel Nightmares with bags and accessories, traditional painter Scowlizartist, artist and advocate, Rain Bloodworth, and more!
Additionally, there will be natural henna body art available by Mehandi by Maggie, a London Fuse photobooth, and card and energy readings by Chancey Rennie.
The Only in OEV Fridays events correspond with the murals taking place as part of the OEV Mainstreet Mural Program, with the next mural being painted at Vietnam Restaurant by artists Pamela Scharback and Andres Garzon. Make sure to also stop by the restaurant for a delicious dinner!
In addition to the live mural painting, check out the live art activations including chalk artwork by Gil Clelland and Christine Gagne, Live painting by Kay Ojo, balloon art by Dan Steep and Bryan Currie, and tours and wheel demos by the London Clay Art Centre. There will be lots of fun for the whole family to enjoy!
Additionally, there will be a variety of ways to connect with area businesses through promotions, Construction Dollar Cash Mobs, giveaways, and more! We can’t wait to welcome you to Old East Village to experience what the neighbourhood has to offer.
