Fall Essentials in OEV!

Fall is in the air in the Old East Village! The leaves are turning colours, cozy sweaters are back, and Thanksgiving is right around the corner. With a new season upon us, we thought we would lay out some of the best fall essentials that are available to you here in OEV! Whether it’s tea, pastries, or homemade cabbage rolls - OEV has everything you need this fall season.


First, let’s start with some fresh loose leaf tea from Wisdom Tea Shop.


Wisdom Tea offers over 146 loose-leaf teas, along with Japanese crepes, teapots, and a wide range of hot coffee and tea. They are open every Saturday from 11-3:30 pm, so make sure you take some time out of your weekend to pop in! If you aren’t able to make it down to the shop, Wisdom Tea offers weekly free local delivery. We picked up some of the Autumn Vibes tea and it is delicious, especially during the cool fall weather!


Next, you need to try the chicken pot pie from Artisan Bakery.


Artisan Bakery is known for its traditionally made artisan bread and savoury treats. But, have you tried their chicken pot pie? Chicken pot pie is known for its satisfying richness, with the combination of vegetables, meat, creamy gravy, and flaky pastry crust. You can pre-order one of these from Artisan’s website for only $8. It comes fully cooked, just heat and serve! This is definitely a must-have this fall.


Be sure to pick up some Mums for your front porch at The Market at Western Fair District.


The Western Fair District Market is iconic in the Old East Village. They offer everything from sweets and cheeses to the most perfect fall Mums for your front porch! Mums just complete the “Fall Vibe,” which is why we think it’s essential for every home this fall.


Pick up some delicious soft pastries from Homemade Kolache.

Homemade Kolache is new to OEV, which is why have you have to try their delicious soft pastries. Their pastries are made in house, with a selection of home made fruit fillings. They serve as a delicious snack, so pick up a few to bring home so you can enjoy them while watching a movie!


Snuggle up with a good book from Bread and Roses Books.


Bread and Roses Bookshop has a book for everyone. Stop into the store and talk to Chris, who will pair you with the perfect book for that cozy evening on the couch.


Pick up some incense from Mystic Bookshop.


Speaking of cozy evenings, you have to stop into Mystic Bookshop for some incense. They have a large range of incense, including lavender, vanilla, and pine - all perfect for a fall evening at home. While you’re there, don’t forget to check out their candles, books, and accessories!


Pick out a cozy beanie from Illbury and Goose.


Illbury and Goose is known for their local, high-quality, cozy clothing items. Stop by and check out their brand new fall beanie collection, featuring a variety of different colours.
