The new series 'More Than a Main Street' spotlights the people behind the businesses in OEV that make it a vibrant community. Located in Somerville 630 at 630 Dundas St., Bella’s Acacia Catering is a unique catering spot specializing in Korean vegan and vegetarian food. Bella specializes in nut-free, dairy-free, and gluten-free food that has been brought to you from her family recipes in Korea. Bella is well-known for her delicious kimchi, so make sure to grab some from her when you’re out and about!

How long have you been in business? How many years in OEV?

I've been in this business for about 3 years and have been in OEV from the beginning. (The first location was on Dorinda Street).

What makes your business unique?

I specialize in authentic Korean vegan and vegetarian food and all our dishes have so many features such as dairy-free (no eggs, cheese, milk, butter so on), allergy-free, and nut-free.

On top of that, I make everything fresh to provide customers with healthy food always using premium ingredients. Even our hand-crafted kimchi is made from scratch including the kimchi sauce, and it's vegan, gluten-free, and 100% natural sugar.

What drew you to Old East Village? What’s your favorite part of the OEV community?

When I started the business in 2018, my uncle, who is the founder of Ticket Window, brought me to 630 Dundas Street (at the time it was called Food Incubator) to get a commercial kitchen space. However, at the time, none of the spaces were available to rent, so I couldn't get into it. Since then, we found a small commercial kitchen at Dorinda Street (just 3 minutes away from the 630), and it was as good as the Sommerville. My favorite part of the OEV community is everyone including other vendors (Fire Roasted Coffee, Willie's Cafe, Momo's at the Market, Immanuel's Kitchen, and Yaya's Kitchen) at the 630 building, and the community from single customers to organizations like OEV BIA are so supportive especially to local small business owners including myself. I believe that those features make the OEV community more unique and diverse as well. I can't say more than 'THANK YOU" to every single person and how amazing they are!

Can you share a fun fact about yourself that people may not know?

I really enjoy the movie Shrek! Puss in boots is my favorite character!
